Director of Spiritan Mission Animation

The Congregation of the Holy Spirit is an International Catholic Congregation with its headquarters in Rome. The Irish Province of this Congregation, known today as The Spiritans and formerly known as The Holy Ghost Fathers, was founded over 150 years ago.  Today the Irish Spiritan Province has over 250 professed members. Spiritan commitments in Ireland are in areas such as Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC), parish ministries, pastoral training, education, and a project to support torture survivors (SPIRASI).

The new full-time role of Director of Spiritan Mission Animation – Ireland (SMA-I) will be a senior position within the Province.  The role will involve mission animation within Spiritan Services, and forging effective partnerships in a respectful and collaborative manner with both faith-based and non-faith-based organisations. 

The ideal candidate will hold a third-level qualification in social policy, social science, religious studies, or a related field and will have experience of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including volunteers, service-users, professional staff, senior managers, and sector-level decision-makers.  Good communication and interpersonal skills, creativity and an ability to articulate theology and spirituality are essential.  The successful candidate for this key role will have demonstrated a professional approach to the role based on proven pastoral, communication and outreach approaches. This is a full-time post for an initial two-year, fixed-term contract.  The job description is available on www.spiritan.ie.
